The Aqua Clock and the Frugal Mommas

An outdated clock gets a refresh with chalk paint | The Chelsea Project |

Hope you’ve had a good week.  It’s been super busy around here, but also super fun.  The pantry refresh (LINK HERE) has been running around the internet like crazy.  I know!  I love it when one of my projects is also helpful to others.  And, since everybody keeps asking about the clock, I thought I’d add a short little tutorial with this post.

In case you’ve never worked with chalk paint, it’s a special paint that adheres to just about anything.  It is usually brushed on and, when dry, sanded down with sandpaper.  This creates a distressed finish that is popular on a variety of pieces.  Clock is refreshed with aqua chalk paint | The Chelsea Project | www.thechelseaproject.comBut, in this case, I took a short cut.  Using a dry brush technique, I simply dipped the brush in aqua chalk paint, dabbed it on a paper towel, and then brushed the remaining paint on the clock frame.  There was no priming of the frame or sanding of the chalk paint after it dried.  It took about 5 minutes.  Seriously.  Five minutes.  Dab and brush.

And, that’s all there is to the famous aqua clock.   🙂
