I was just wondering. How do you pick colors for your home? If I go to the paint store and pull random colors that catch my eye, I find they always match my clothes or fine china. I’m serious. And, this may or may not be good.
And, because of this, I was concerned when the current house refresh got underway. The nightmare that kept spinning through my head was that the entire house would end up looking like the master closet. And, this, my friends, would not be good.
So I’m on my soapbox touting the benefits of using paint palettes and not just single paint cards pulled at random. What I have found is that these palettes keep me focused on the planned color scheme and prevent me from wandering back to the master closet. The sampler below is from Sherwin Williams, but all of the major paint retailers have similar systems. The part you’ll get to take home is an 8 by 11 card with about a dozen different colors on it. As long as you have this palette, single color cards are then ok to use, too.
Good color schemes are all about planning your work and working your plan. And, nothing helps hold the color plan together like a well-defined palette.
Ok. Color rant over (LOL). It’s time to say hello to the Frugal Mommas.
