How to Make a Fun Snack Tray from Garden Items

How to make party trays for kids from garden items | The Chelsea Project Blog | www.thechelseaproject.com

What if….

you hear the brakes squeal on that old yellow school bus…

and then giggling

…from the distance?

What if….

in the time it takes her to get from the bus to the house…

…you wish you could

..whip up something awesome?

Not the usual…

…or the ordinary…

something vibrant…creative…and …special…

that will take her by surprise…

…and the look on her face…

will then

…take your breath away?

What if….

…in those quick moments between the bus and the house…

you whip out the extra roll of shelf liner

and roll it across the table…

IMG_1869with or without a tablecloth?

what if you add a knee pad for gardening…

and lay on a little more shelf liner….

bright green…

just for effect?

And …

what if you fill some little terra cotta pots with her favorite veggies?

And because…you’re now rolling with this whole whimsical garden theme…

you cover a pot drip pan with green leaves…

and plop in a container of her favorite dip.

And…..what if…..she takes one look at it and is so excited….

the book bag drops to the floor and she’s yours for the moment?

IMG_1843What if…

she starts talking faster than she’s eating….

…going on and on…

Marci likes Jeremy…but Tyler likes Megan….

John got in trouble because he back-talked the teacher…

…what if you just listen and nod…

..and in those precious moments…

learn more than what happened that day at school?

You learn what is on her mind.

What if….

you spend less than $3.00 in materials to make a fun little afternoon gab session

…just for her?

And…what if it was the highlight of her day…

and you ….

her bright light?

What if?

Until next time,

Happy days,

Suz…this brought tears to my eyes! Your posts are inspirational on so many levels. The garden snack presentation is precious! The icing on the cake are your thoughts! Thank you for opening your heart. My mom never did anything like this for me. That wasn’t the way she grew up. God bless you for modeling to young moms how little time and effort it takes to create lasting memories.

TY…Maggie…I’m sorry your mom didn’t realize how important a special afternoon together would mean to you. I hope to go more in this direction now that I’m becoming more comfortable on social media….that is…when it comes as authentically as this post did. TY for following.

I definitely should have had more of those “what if” moments with my daughter when she was young. Love this idea Suzie – you sound like a connected Mom!

Oh, thanks so much, Marie. I think all of us moms learn from each other. XOXO
