Cozy Christmas Outdoor Fireplace

Hello Friends,

Today we are celebrating and decorating outdoor spaces.

Hope you will join me, our fabulous host Amy from Atta Girl Says, and 11 more bloggers as we share our Festive Christmas Porches.

Cozy Christmas Outdoor Fireplace

During the busy holidays, a warm drink by the fire is the ultimate relaxation.

And one of our favorites is Bigelow’s Constant Comment tea with a secret ingredient….. fresh orange slices.

Spiced tea with fresh orange slices and a comfy chair is the ultimate relaxation | #cozychristmasoutdoorfireplace #christmasporch #christmaspatio | www.thechelseaproject.com

It’s the perfect blend of holiday spices and fresh citrus flavor.

We also love our super-comfy, all-weather wicker chairs (Home Depot) that can be dragged around the fireplace in any configuration we want.

And seat cushions that get their cozy on with 22 by 22 square pillow covers (Pottery Barn). No, the fabric isn’t indoor/outdoor and the pillow covers aren’t really meant as seat covers, but they are really GREAT seat covers. #bestkeptsecret

They fit a standard outdoor cushion a little loose so there’s no stress on the seams. And the covers zip on and off so easily that it’s a breeze to bring them in if needed.

Plus….gotta love all that rad Christmas plaid….

Then there’s the floor covering.

You know there’s a secret about this, too. LOL…. it wouldn’t be me…..or my post…..without some kind of back story. Right?

And I’ll spill….. if you promise not to tell…….

OK. So, just between you and me and the world wide web, it’s an upholstery remnant (about $12) that I sewed into a floor covering (about 54-inches wide by 72-inches long).

Then it is simply layered over a regular rug liner.

And waa-la…..the instant cozy floor secret is outta the bag.

For extra seating or to use as a low coffee or end table, here’s another well-kept secret.

Simply stack square outdoor cushions covered in Sunbrella fabric as high as needed. Watch for these covered cushions on close-out at the end of summer. I found these at Costco for a song (around $5 per cushion).

I love them because they are kinda like adult-sized Legos. Just stack them together and they do not easily slide apart. And then…. reconfigure as needed.

Add a couple of faux fur pillows and throws…..and all the cozy things are good to go.

And with this, you may be wondering why Christmas greens are adorning a rusty lantern (Hobby Lobby) against a backdrop of golden leaves. Well, this is just how we roll in the Deep South during the last week of November. Fall comes late and temperatures stay high. And this….my sweet friends….is really no secret. Trust me, LOL, it isn’t.

In fact, it’s so hot that one of our favorite Christmas-time visitors…..

Santa's boots make a cozy Christmas appearance | #cozychristmasoutdoorfireplace #christmasporch #christmaspatio | www.thechelseaproject.com

….has to opt for a shirt and vest…..

Santa stands tall watching for snow | #cozychristmasoutdoorfireplace #christmasporch #christmaspatio | www.thechelseaproject.com

….instead of his usual heavy red coat. 🙁

Poor fellow, I don’t know who’s going to tell him that he won’t be shredding snow around here any time soon.

But since that kind of news might just land us on the “naughty” list…..

…….maybe it’s best to just keep this bit of news between us……along with all of our other little secrets.

LOL….

Your outdoor patio and fireplace always make my #backyardgoals inspo board. And Christmas is no different. I love how you’ve decorated the space for the holidays, despite those non-wintry conditions we have here in the south. Your post was also packed with so many good tips; I’ll be on the lookout for clearance cushions to stack for seating next summer.

I’ve never wanted an outdoor fireplace as much as I do now! And who knew adding orange slices to the tea would take it to the next level for holiday cheer!

I’ll bring my flip flops and the Bailey’s because I could get nice and comfy cozy in that space very easily! And also because I so enjoy your writing style, I know I’d enjoy sitting and chatting with you for hours!

You have the most beautiful outdoor space. I loved all of your tips and am going to try a slice of orange in my tea, maybe this afternoon. And next year I’m definitely going to look for seat cushions on sale. Stacked they make a great coffee table or a seat for an extra guest.

    • Reply theChelseaProject December 4, 2019 at 4:19 pm

Thanks so much, Paula. And I think it’s time for tea…wish you were here….and yes to the cushions. The flat, square ones with that tough Sunbrella fabric are the best for stacking to be whatever you need.

Thanks for that tip about putting orange slices in tea! Going to try that very soon! I love seeing your outdoor fireplace in any season but that Santa on the mantel is the bomb! (Does anyone really say bomb still? Showing my age, I guess, but it’s a supreme compliment!)

    • Reply theChelseaProject December 6, 2019 at 2:09 pm

Hi Jane and thanks so much.. I was looking for something big, traditional….and yet unique. When I ran across this fella, everything else just fell into place. And I still say da bomb all the time. Maybe it is on the out, IDK…..but thank you so much for such a lovely compliment.
