5-Minute Side Table Makeover and Frugal Mommas Linky

A metallic cream paint lightens and brightens this table without changing the original color | #sponsored Country Chic Paint |

Hello Friends,

Have you ever looked at a piece of furniture and wished you could make it lighter and brighter without changing the original color?  This exact thing happened to me just this week and I am thrilled to share the solution I stumbled for this 5-minute side table makeover while working on another project.

Disclosure:  I received free paint from Country Chic Paint in exchange for writing a review on the blog. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are 100% my own.

During the month of May, I am participating in a furniture refinishing challenge sponsored by a chalk paint company called Country Chic.  They also make metallic creams and I happen to be working with a bright gold called Pocket Watch.

And so……. while I was toiling away on the contest piece, an idea struck.  In order to refresh this little table, all I needed to do is rub about one 1/2 to 1 tablespoonful of product all over the table and then use a damp cloth to wipe it down before the cream dries.  And that’s exactly what I did.

Here’s a before photo.  See how dull and cheap the finish looks?

And here it is five minutes later.

How amazing is that?  Although the new finish is extremely soft and subtle, it made a tremendous change in the table’s overall appearance.  I was really quite taken back because I had never thought about metallics as ulta-thin topcoats.

I tell you, it is like the table is now wearing a very soft glittering eye-shadow.

And I just love it.

There’s more to come about the May challenge and the totally unique way that two Queen Anne chairs are getting a refresh.  For now, let’s just say that I’m not painting the wood.  🙂  #imatease #lol  But really…….I’m not.  🙂

But enough about me.  It’s time to welcome Kelli and the Frugal Mommas.

Wow, I love what that metallic did to that table, it looked good before but now it’s a wow and then some!

And thank you for hosting this great link party 🙂

Thanks, Toni. Yes! I was shocked at how little paint was required and how fast the table was transformed. The table totally transformed that flat little space in the living room.
