Holiday Greens Beyond Christmas: Year-Round Decor Ideas

In my household, practicality reigns supreme. You might recall our patriotic-themed post, where we demonstrated the art of repurposing everyday dishes and linens to effortlessly transition between holidays. Now, believe it or not, we’re applying the same principle to those artificial greens that typically make an appearance solely during the Christmas season.

Does it sound a bit unconventional? Perhaps. However, before you dismiss the idea, let’s take a closer look.

Year-Round Decor Inspiration with Christmas Greens

This article is brought to you in partnership with Tree Classics, but I assure you that all the projects and viewpoints expressed here are entirely my own.

The journey began when Tree Classics extended an invitation for me to join their Christmas in July Challenge. Eager to embrace this creative challenge, I embarked on a mission alongside fellow bloggers to seamlessly blend some of their delightful Christmas products into a vibrant summer decor scheme. Among the treasures I selected were a magnificent 9-foot garland and a charming 24-inch wreath, both featuring user-friendly battery-operated LED lights. Join me on this transformative journey!

9-Foot Garland

Anticipating the arrival of the 9-foot garland, my initial plan was to fashion the lush greenery into sections resembling decorative balls, intending to stack these “greenery balls” in a charming basket atop the sofa table.

However, upon unpacking the garland, a delightful surprise awaited me – it was simply too opulent and thick to be rolled and bound as originally envisioned. What an unexpectedly wonderful challenge to encounter! That is, unless you’re me, and suddenly find yourself needing to conjure up a Plan B in haste. In those moments, the situation can quickly veer into ‘panicsville.’

Nevertheless, I remained determined to adhere to my original vision, albeit with a twist. I opted for an even larger basket – think huge – and simply nestled the garland inside. This ingenious adjustment transformed the basket into a mobile decor piece, ready to grace various spots around my home. Whether under a table, by the fireplace, or perched on the front porch steps, the possibilities seemed endless for this charming basket adorned with sparkling greens.

Currently, my favorite display locale is in the sunroom, where the garland rests atop a weathered flower cart. By day, it exudes cheerfulness, playfulness, and an unexpected touch of greenery. At night, it casts a gentle, soft twinkle. While not sufficient to illuminate the entire room, it creates a cozy and inviting ambiance that’s simply magical.

How to Utilize a 24-Inch Wreath

When it comes to home decor, versatility is key, and a 24-inch wreath can be your secret weapon for transforming your living spaces year-round. This elegant and adaptable accessory isn’t just for the holidays. Discover creative ways to make the most of your wreath. During fall, drape it over a mirror to infuse warmth and rustic charm into your space. For a touch of rustic farmhouse chic, pair it with a ladder and some blooms to create a delightful focal point. And in the summer, let it shine as the centerpiece of your outdoor table, perhaps with some succulents for added flair. With a 24-inch wreath, the possibilities are endless, allowing you to enjoy its beauty in every season;

  • Wreath #1 – Embracing Fall: Nestled just beyond the sunroom, our patio boasts an inviting outdoor fireplace. Last autumn, I had the pleasure of participating in Tree Classics’ Fall Challenge. If you missed that post, allow me to share the creative twist – I simply draped the wreath over a mirror, instantly transforming it into a unique fireplace accent, exuding the warm and rustic essence of fall;
  • Wreath #2 – Rustic Farmhouse Chic: Another ingenious way to enjoy this wreath throughout the year is by pairing it with a ladder. This pairing exudes rustic charm with a farmhouse touch. To achieve this look, consider adding a sprig of flowers to one side of the wreath, or if you prefer, embellish the entire wreath with floral abundance. Secure the wreath to the ladder with a rugged burlap bow. We positioned this ladder-wreath combo beside a tree just to the right of the fireplace, harmonizing seamlessly with the natural elements in our backyard. But let your imagination soar – this versatile duo can easily transition to a porch or indoor space. The possibilities are indeed endless;
  • Wreath #3 – Captivating Centerpiece: Last but certainly not least, we explore how the wreath can serve as the centerpiece. During the spring, I crafted a faux succulent container for our kitchen. When summertime called for a quick and stylish outdoor table centerpiece, the wreath provided the perfect foundation. Nestling the succulent arrangement in the center, the wreath can be lit or unlit, thanks to its battery-operated design.

Conclusion

These ideas showcase the wreath’s versatility in a natural, woodsy setting, but don’t let that limit your creativity. These concepts can easily adapt to suit any decor style. Let your imagination run wild and have a blast with your decor transformations. But what if you need to stow away your greens? Fear not, for Tree Classics has a remarkable storage solution. Their storage bag features an interior hanger equipped with sturdy hooks that securely grasp and support the wreath’s weight. Plus, there’s ample room in the bottom of the bag for additional decorations. In fact, I managed to tuck away the 9-foot garland and still had room to spare.
